SUNDAY, DECEMBER 4TH - THE SECOND ADVENT

"The Baptizer Comes"
"Watch closely: I'm sending my preacher ahead of you; He'll make the road smooth for you. Thunder in the desert! Prepare for God's arrival! Make the road smooth and straight!
John the Baptizer appeared in the wild, preaching a baptism of life-change that leads to forgiveness of sins."

SECOND SUNDAY IN ADVENT

DECEMBER 4, 2011

"A SUNDAY TO HONOR PEACE"
AND JOHN WHO PREPARED THE WAY
FOR
"THE PRINCE OF PEACE"
PEACE FROM THE PRINCE OF PEACE
JESUS SAID
Joh 14:27
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
AND PAUL ADDED in Philippians 4:7-9
Php 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Php 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Php 4:9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

I. PEACE WITH ONE ANOTHER

Paul tells us that we need to be considerate about & at peace with one another.
But that’s not the attitude of a lot of people today. They’re convinced that if you don’t gripe & complain & argue & fight for everything you want in life, you’ll never get it.
II. PEACE WITHIN

Paul also talks about peace within.

"Rejoice in the Lord always, I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer & petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts & your minds in Christ Jesus."

III. PEACE WITH GOD

Finally, Paul mentions peace with God.

"Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me - put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you."
